It is the Women’s FA Cup fourth round this weekend, the round in which the 12 WSL sides enter, so I thought I would write a piece looking at the 16 ties that are due to take place. All these matches have to be decided on the day so if the scores are level after 90 minutes then 30 extra time will played and if still tied then a penalty shoot-out will decide who wins. Details are correct as of 2pm on Thursday 27th January. Please check the clubs Twitter/social media etc for more up to date information regarding the matches. Two of the ties are due to played on Saturday so lets start with those! ___ Aston Villa v Chelsea Venue- Banks’s Stadium WS1 4SA Kick off time- 1pm Saturday 29th January 2022 Tickets- Buy Tickets: Aston Villa Ticketing (avfc.co.uk) Twitter- @AVWFCOfficial v @ChelseaFCW After winning the 2021 FA Cup in December, the current holders start their defence at fellow WSL side Aston Villa. When they met at Bank’s Stadium in the league earlier in the season Chelsea won 1-0. Chelsea are currently second in the league whilst Villa are ninth. Chelsea have had a bit of a dip in form since winning the cup but did win their last league match 2-0 against West Ham on Wednesday. Villa won their last match against Leicester last weekend to slightly ease their relegation worries. ___ Nottingham Forest v Manchester City Venue- City Ground NG2 5FJ Kick off time- 1pm Saturday 29th January 2022 Tickets- Event Information Screen - eTickets (eticketing.co.uk) Twitter- @NFFCWomen v @ManCityWomen In Saturday’s other tie, Nottingham Forest, who play in the National League Northern Premier Division, take on three times winners Manchester City who play in the WSL. This match is being played at the City Ground. Forest are currently sixth in the league and have already beaten Lichfield City (4-0), Wolverhampton Wanderers (4-0) and Stoke City (2-1) to reach this stage. City are fifth in the WSL and on a good run of form having not lost in their last seven games. The other 14 ties are due to be played on Sunday ___ Arsenal v London City Lionesses Venue- Meadow Park WD6 5AL Kick off time- 12:30pm Sunday 30th January 2022 Tickets- Arsenal Women | Future Ticketing Twitter- @ArsenalWFC v @LC_Lionesses Fourteen times winners of the FA Cup and 2021 runners up, Arsenal, start their campaign at home to Championship side London City Lionesses. Arsenal are currently top of the WSL whilst LCL are second in their league. London City Lionesses beat Ashford Town Middx in the third round to reach this stage. Could be an interesting match with the Lionesses on a good run of form and having got good results against WSL sides in the Conti Cup this season whilst Arsenal’s hasn’t been the best of late. This match is being shown on the BBC Red Button.
